‘He who is in jail today can be in power tomorrow’ — PPP chairman also takes aim at MQM over province demand
Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that if it does not abandon what he called extremist politics, Imran Khan will break Asif Ali Zardari’s record of time spent in jail.
In a statement, Bilawal said the PTI’s disputes with everyone stemmed from its politics of extremism and boycott.
He added that it was Pakistan’s political tradition that one who is in jail today could be in power tomorrow — but for that, he said, the PTI would have to give up extremist politics.
According to Bilawal, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister was treading the path of negative politics. He claimed that a few days ago the federal government had been prepared to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but that governor’s rule in the province would be the last resort.
Taking aim at the MQM, the PPP chairman said those who could not win even a union council seat were talking about a new province. He said Mustafa Kamal and Mohsin Naqvi should visit every city in Sindh and ask the people whether they wanted a province.
